This is the third and final (for now) installment of exploring this part of the midwest... I basically thought this might be a good opportunity to show a bit of my photography, as well as to show you some of the explorations we enjoy. Of course this is a minimal look at all that's available in this part of the country! Today I'll begin with a couple photos taken in Wisconsin's great north woods. There are lakes at every turn and many of them are connected (i.e. the chain of lakes). Last fall I had the opportunity to go Muskie fishing with a good friend from Colorado. We had the pleasure of his being good friends with a professional guide and we got to see a lot of water and the countryside in the Minoqua area... here are a few photos...
One of a great many American eagles seen daily in this neighborhood... how neat it is to watch them swooping at each other and tussling in mid-air...
On a separate trip north, I caught this photo of Keshena Falls on the Wolf River in Wisconsin's Menominee Reservation...
Of course a really huge attraction for many in this part of the world is Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers. I'm very partial to this team although I'm not that big a football fan (dare I admit that?)... the Packers bring my oldest son and family home a lot more than if we didn't live just seventy miles from the Green and Gold! I took this photo in the atrium at Lambeau Field...
Fall is a time for pumpkins, caramel apples, freshly baled hay, petting zooz, and mums... we have a lovely orchard called The Little Farmer not far away that is the perfect outing for grandchildren...
You just know it's a hit when the facial expression says it all...
Milwaukee's Mitchell Park Conservatory (the Domes) is a great place to explore any time of the year, but I especially enjoy the three domes when winter is getting a bit long and I need to see a little spring... another great visit is during the model railroad show... fun for the kids and grownups alike!
Wisconsin had many botanical gardens and they are all quite impressive... one of the newest is in Green Bay and there is plenty left to be developed, but what is completed is great... here is a photo of the cottage garden which is one of my favorite of its many displays...
One thing I will say with certainty... it's always good to come home to our own little piece of ground... I love manipulating my environment and sharing my efforts with others. I sometimes wonder what will become of the gardens once I'm gone, but for the most part, I've concluded that it's really not that important. What's more important is the moments spent appreciating where and why we are here... sharing out of love for others... living the lives we are meant to live, and appreciating the good gifts we have been blessed with... I'll close with a few of my favorite scenes from our gardens here at Oak Lawn Cheese Factory... as always, Larry
And what may be my favorite photo from this past season....
