The high school junior prom at the school where I taught for 33 years is in full swing even as I write. This is my seventh year of retirement and still they come, ushering in spring, every year. I really thought that the tradition would wear off after a great many years of coming for photos in our gardens, but that hasn't been the case at all... we had about 200 visitors to our gardens today and it is a great pleasure to have them come!
I always get a kick out of the limousine... some years I swear it's half the length of this old cheese factory... well perhaps not quite, but this one did log in somewhere in 30' + range...
The court arrived first and they were looking spiffy as always...
The daffodils made a good backdrop for pictures of couples and individuals... I don't know many of the young people now that I've been away from teaching as long as I have... however some are piano students of my wife, as with Emily, and Marissa is a neighbor from the farm just up the road...
We were blessed with a gorgeous day in the mid-60's... and a real neat bunch of folks, and some nice visits. Many inquired why I don't charge for this and my response was that this town paid my salary for 33 years and this is a simple way to give back to the community. The gardens are always available for graduation pictures, wedding photos, whatever... it's the least we can do!
And now... that 65 degrees brought on the early magnolias and they are pretty much at peak this weekend... here are some scenes from the garden this evening...
