I'd have to say that my siberian irises are providing my greatest garden pleasure just now... they are enhanced by a couple of Bartzella intersectional peonies also in bloom close by. After seeing how well they work together, I intend on adding a third Bartzella this fall and more siberians. These are relatively new to this area and this is the first season for a good bloom... they can only improve over the next few years as more mature and waves of color are created. They also go well with the conifers in the area, whether in bloom or not.
Some of the predominant conifers include an Abies koreana 'Horstmann's Silberlocke', a nice specimen of Picea glauca 'Pendula', several Picea pungens 'Montgomery', an arborvitae with thread like foliage who's name escapes me at the moment, and several others... additionally there are a lot of orienpet lilies and a nice specimen of Clematis viticella 'Betty Corning' which is just now starting into bloom.
Other things continuing in bloom include a couple wisterias... Amethyst Falls...
... and Aunt Dee...
My Tinka Phillips peony continues to bloom more than ever in the past... my wife counted almost ninety blossoms!
Until next time... regards, Larry
