... so am I or am I not?
... Yes, I did hybridize all the lilies shown on today's post, as well as many others that have yet to bloom ... this is my first attempt at hybridizing...
The problem is, I can't bear to toss any of them! There are a few not pictured here that could go... but for every ten, I want to keep nine! I mean after all, in the past 4o years I've spent good money on a whole lot of hemerocallis that weren't as attractive as many of the ones in this post!
In theory, a good hybridizer would probably toss 95 out of 100 right at the get go... he or she would then evaluate what remains and probably toss most of them at some point.
In the meantime, I'm just going to have a whole lot of fun checking out what's new each day with "my" daylilies.
You all should give it a try! All it takes is a bit of patience. It's easy and it's a blast... Larry
And one more thing... I didn't bother to keep track
of the parentage, but to my surprise, it's been very
enjoyable recognizing where the various exhibited traits
have come from in terms of the parents... in many cases
it's been pretty simple and has added another element to
the enjoyment of this little game I've been playing at for
the past year and a half!
