... if you peruse this post you will understand what I mean... the hemerocallis are still going strong and I'm enjoying the progeny of my hybridizing efforts, although I will be sharing the work of others in today's photos.
It is, however, the orienpets that are stealing the show and their fragrance pervades the gardens. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so with that in mind, I'll give you a picture tour of portions of the gardens now in peak bloom. The cottage gardens will be visited extensively... it is there that some plants are loving the heat and humidity, while others are not standing up to it at all well. Two that come to mind in that department are the sweet alyssum and the ivy geraniums, neither looking particularly good just now.
We have been blessed with almost three inches of rain this week which has brought joy to me and the plants alike. I have heard from many that they will be coming to visit the gardens tomorrow and for those who can't... here's some of what they will be seeing...
