It will be awhile before I am able to post the second portion of my 2011 gardens review, so I decided to share my big pot of petunias... it's at least twelve feet across now and would you believe I've only watered it twice since I planted it. Surprising since we are considered a mild drought area on some of the national weather maps this year.
These are Supertunia Vista Bubblegum and I am growing them for the first time... five stars in my book... here they are in another part of the gardens...
Also, a bit of an update on myself. My shoulder repair turned out to be much more severe than originally anticipated and as a result I'm having to be extremely careful... I'm really quite amazed at how it's going as I approach the four week point. My therapist says this is the time when a lot of scar tissue is developing, which accounts for some of the extra pain recently, but we should get past this situation soon.
I have developed a new situation which is keeping me in my recliner much of the time. When I stand I experience extreme dizziness and almost black out, sometimes losing my vision momentarily... my trusty pacemaker reading with the electrophysiologist indicates heart arrhythmias whose origins are at this stage undiagnosed... this is not new to me but is much more severe than I generally have experienced and further tests will be run tomorrow. The result is lots of time to think about the condition of the gardens. As soon as I feel better, I plan on making a pruning list which will include raising canopies in a number of cases, and removing some trees altogether. My son will do the deed while I sit in an easy chair and watch, and the scrap pile is going to be big... as trees mature, this process become necessary every couple of years, unless the jungle life appeals...
That's it for now... take care, Larry
