With just a hint of fog, the warm morning light created some nice effects as seen here through the River's Purple Beech and the new conifer rock garden.
As I said earlier, several of the brugsmansias are outdoing themselves today. I highly expect it has to do with a discussion Sarah an I had regarding their fates a few nights back. I mentioned to Sarah as we sat below the plants, that there was no way she could get these huge plants ready for wintering in the basement, and I wouldn't be anywhere near ready, with my shoulder surgery, to take on the project myself. Additionally, with all the hot weather and fierce sun this season, the plants really drooped though much of the summer and needed more shade. The cattle tanks are much too heavy to move and there really isn't a good spot for them anyway. We decided we'll let the large specimens in the tanks freeze. Tough decision with the overwhelming fragrance of hundreds of blooms now filling the yard!
I was pleasantly surprised to see this Cyclamen purpurascens in bloom...
Here we have Lablab or hyacinth beans blooming in hydrangea...
My left hand is getting a bit achy from hunting, pecking, and stretching in a manner to which it is unaccustomed, so I'll simply share a few more first of September photos...
