Upon returning home from a four day holiday visiting family out of state, we arrived home to find a "fire" in the gardens... or at least that was the impression Acer palmatum 'Seiryu' is making, shining in the late afternoon sunlight. Two other maples, 'Osakazuki' and 'Tobiosho' had not attained full color for the season when we departed... since they are positioned in a much more open spot, their foliage was mostly destroyed by temperatures in the lower 20's, but Seiryu definitely has taken up the slack...
