What can I say about tulips...? I'm not a tulip connoisseur by any means. I just like them... quite a lot actually. You won't find huge numbers of tulip oddities in my gardens and I have no exciting new info about them. It's really pretty simple actually... in many cases I simply buy what's on sale at the end of the season, try to plant them in groupings of the same color and variety, I plant them deeply so they don't wear out by multiplying as quickly. I occasionally throw a bit of fertilizer their way if I think of it, and allow the foliage to brown off after they bloom. If I decide to order tulips, I almost always go with Darwin hybrids since they perennialize well (lily flowered varieties do quite well on this count also).... in fact, I have some tulips that have been in the garden twenty-five years and divided only once in all that time. That said, I have little else to offer other than a few photos of the tulips in my gardens.
Enjoy! Larry
