One of my favorite jazz artists is Diane Schuur and her rendition of 'What a Difference a Day Makes' really hits home today...
"What a difference a day makes,
Twenty-four little hours
Brought the sun and the flowers
Where once there was rain..."
(actually snow!!)
Arnold Promise blooms were not that far along when we were hit by the snow and single digit temperatures... the color is fresh and glowing this morning...
Jelena on the other hand seems slightly dimmed and faded color-wise from the cold...
The only other blooms in the garden are on my lonely little eranthus... but I do love it!
So goodbye to snow... although someone mentioned at our gardening meeting last night that we can expect one more mid-march... I'm fine with that as long as it doesn't get too cold... as if I have any control over that... a non-gardener questioned yesterday whether I would be able to cover my 62 magnolias... I wish...
So... a couple days ago...
And this morning... swelling buds on Yellow Lantern magnolia (as well as others) and a promise of a plenteous bloom on the dogwood...
... and everywhere daffodils peeking through the soil...
But do step into the house for a moment to see a few of the amarillis that are blooming just now...
...and a whole lot of phalaenopsis orchids (on the bottom shelf are 150 of my newest daylily hybrids)... take care, Larry
