When I was at Wavecrest nursery in southern Michigan this past week, I asked for permission to take and share photos on my blog and was kindly granted that permission. In this post I thought I'd share some of their Japanese maples and the inside of their Japanese maple houses.
While I'd love one of each, after my preps for the big freeze (I'm writing this on Thursday evening), I'm not sure I'd have wanted to wrap more maples than I did today... it feels like I spread an acre of sheets and burlap as well!
I'll close this post with this lovely example of Seven Sons, and its exfoliating bark, trained to tree form. Larry
Addendum... the day after the freeze: while not yet building up the courage to do a morning walk-about, from the windows the magnolias appear to be in fairly good shape. In fact, the only obvious situation involves the tulips which are bent over to the ground... I would anticipate a return to some of their original stature. I expect I'll leave most of the coverings on all day as tonight will be another frosting.
