After returning home from a few days journey, I came upon this part of the garden at dusk this evening. The highlight for me is the combination of the whites of Digitalis, Crambe cordifolia, and Aruncus dioicus with the red toned clematis...
By the way, I've had to switch back my template because some people were unable to access my posts on the new design and I need to try and figure out why... L
Regarding that journey I mentioned... we traveled to the very end of US Hywy 41 on the Keweenaw Penninsula that protrudes into Lake Superior. Hyway 41 runs all the way from there to Miami, Florida and we actually garden a mile or so from it.
The first four views are from our motel room into the harbor for the little town of Copper Harbor. The weather was gorgeous as normally visitor season wouldn't begin until July 1st but it is unseasonably warm now. They get between 200 and 300 inches of snow many winters... hard to imagine. Lake Superior is 50 degrees most of the summer and we did lots of hiking along the shore and to lakes and waterfalls. I have never been any place so quiet and deserted and so far from "civilization". It was truly amazing! Most of the locals we talked to had moved there from other places years ago in search of true peace and quiet. They found it! The nearest 'real' grocery store was over 60 miles from Copper Harbor where we spent the first night. I will share more in future posts... Larry
