With each passing year, saying goodbye to the garden season becomes more difficult. I become more cognizant of how much can change within the perimeters of the cold and snow. I don't fear what might happen between now and the emergence of the croci... it's just that I am so appreciative of my life and the blessings of working with the land and all that comes from the soil. There are gardens far more beautiful than Oak Lawn, but there is no gardener who is more thrilled than I on an almost daily basis...
It is good living close to the land, even if it is only two acres... if you are a true gardener, you will understand and perhaps you will sense a bit of melancholy also, as you await the renewal that is spring...
Take care, Larry
