We have been experiencing some tremendously windy days and daytime temperatures in the low 40's, making it difficult to stay in the gardens longer than a few hours at a time. This has allowed me some studio time and I've been able to complete the cutting of the 16" diameter Tiffany Studios Banded Daffodil shade and start the foiling process and application to the form. I love this design and have wanted to do it for a long time. I'm also way behind on a kitchen restoration project that I began last winter and this shade will be a part of that process. It will hang, along with a 16" Tiffany Studios Tulip shade that I created several years ago, on either side of the sink just in front of new window installations that will provide a view of the gardens.
As concerns the gardens... this fall has been a bummer in some ways. We finally got some freezes and many of the trees are dropping their leaves without changing color. That is certainly the case with the ginkgos... not a speck of that yellow I so enjoy some years. I must admit, a bit of Indian Summer would be great sometime soon. I'd really like to get a start on the new arbors... I harvested logs from a friend's cedars this past week so now it's just a matter of doing the construction. Then again, I am backed up on my stained glass commissions and I fully intend to get those completed before the winter's over. Retirement is great... never a dull moment!
Take care, Larry
