If you are a facebook friend, I've shared some of these pictures there earlier in the week, so my apologies for the repetition. This has been a tremendous Christmas for us in every way imaginable. Our children and the grandchildren are with us, we've experienced wonderful family gatherings, large and small. As in years long past with our children, we did the Christmas cookie decorating thing and it was neat seeing our sons and their mother repeating that tradition as well as the grandsons. Today the grandchildren will decorate the beams in our family room with all sorts of ornaments we've collected through the years, a reinstatement of another tradition from years gone by. Through the marvels of e-mail and the internet, we have been able to share many of our special moments with my siblings throughout the country though pictures and videos. Most of all, the preparations for all our musical and church related activities over the past several months, culminated with a worshipful Christmas Eve service that was a blessing to my wife and I as we led our congregation on what is for us a very special night. Christmas for us is much more than an annual repetition of the sentimental and a temporary happiness; but rather an ongoing reminder of the Good News that is the most wonderful gift of all time.
A special joy this past week has been the frequent fall of fluffy snow. We've gone from the brightest imaginable sunshine, to gorgeous snowfall over and over again. We have to admit that we really do enjoy our four seasons in the gardens here in farm country…
