Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah
Here I am out in the gardens...
They are very entertaining
And I hope to have some fun if it stops raining...
Wait a minute!... it's stopped raining
I can mow now
And do some weeding...
My apologies to Allen Sherman, but you get the point.... as I said on FB, I have toadstools growing out of my toadstools... You just can't please an old gardener I guess, but such is 'life on the farm' as it were...
Actually we have a marvelous day and I've been getting lots done although there is a chance of showers... it's 65 degrees with a light breeze and overcast... cool enough that the mosquitoes have run for cover. There are suddenly so many weeds that I don't know where to begin with that project and all the beds need edging which I will do today as well. I still don't have my sodding done as the sod growers can't get into the fields to cut it because of the constant rains... I'm seeing signs of chlorosis on some plants that like a bit more acidity and some lilies are yellowing. 'Silk Road' is standing over six feet tall but the flower buds seem stunted and yellowish... certainly a disappointment as I love that lily but there are plenty of others that look lush and healthy.... I pulled all the mulch away, but there really isn't much else to be done at this stage of development.
We had a foggy morning a couple days ago and I find it amazing how the fog creates a dome around our dense gardens and encloses us for a few hours on rare occasions... I grew up along the banks of the Mad River in Vermont's Sugarbush Valley... the fog often clung about until 10:00 a.m. or later when the sun would rise above the mountains to the east... it was very common there and brings back a sense of the past to me as I enjoy our infrequent Wisconsin foggy mornings...
