When used properly, clematis really is the 'Queen of Vines' in a garden such as mine. I think to work their wonders, they need to be mixed in with other plantings. I have visited arboretums where dozens are lined up on a trellis framework and they just don't quite make it by themselves. Admittedly, these were planted to demonstrate what is available and fulfilled that purpose well, but they are better served as exclamation points in the home garden. Here then are a goodly number of photos of the clematis plants at Oak Lawn... no need for more words... just enjoy 'Her Majesty'...
