We have house guests for a few days. They and Sarah are off to spend time on a little lake, but I decided to stay away from the lakes today and get the odds and ends completed such as the mowing of lawns and watering of plants suffering from an extended dry period again. There is no way I'll get to all the ones that need a good dousing, but perhaps I can bring a touch of renewal to the ones in the worse shape.
I thought I'd share a wonderful retail outlet just south of Algoma, Wisconsin known as 'The Flying Pig'. It is quite recognizable by its large winged porkster seen below...
This establish has many things of interest and I never have time to investigate them all because I get so caught up in the grounds. They are an art gallery, and carry many things related to gardening and otherwise at retail... I'm pretty sure it's possible to get a bite to eat, etc, but for me it's the plants and garden decor in rusted metal, and the water features... let me share a bit more!
There is a lovely area for the little ones to safely play, all the while being watched over by a wonderful tortoise...
At one time I knew the provenance of the small cottages brought to the site but I no longer recall the story... I believe they are used for classes in a variety of themes from time to time...
Wherever you look, there is this wonderful steel garden art... check out the harp in the background... my favorite! Also, the use of conifers is quite exciting...
Here's a better representation of the harp...
Here's a fine kettle of fish!
And if you visit the Flying Pig, you will really want to take some time visiting the nearby beaches... perhaps fly a kite... and simply enjoy the cool breezes off Lake Michigan on what is otherwise a hot and humid day. Take care, Larry
