The Japanese tree lilac blooms in June beyond the arbor. Cornus kousa 'Samaritan' (Samzan) surounded by allium 'globemaster' is one of the hardier dogwoods.
When bloom is past, tree peonies are still attractive for their foliage. They grow beneath two Pinus strobus 'Torulosa' or contorted white pines. The arbor can be seen in the distance.
Another garden path features hostas, heucheras, and phlox subulata.
Phlox, hydrangea, black knight canna, and impatiens share in creating color in the late summer garden, surrounded by a variety of conifers.
Althea and 'Lavender Mist' thalictrum complement each other is early September.
With a bit of shade and moisture, impatiens always enliven the gardens with color for most of the season. Alyssum (towards back ) or lobularia is also a dependable choice except when it's too hot for its liking.
Jackmani clematis fill trellises on either side of the arbor where ivy geraniums grow in pots and osteospermum covers the ground. The larger conifer is a Picea omorika or serbian spruce.
Returning to spring, flowering crabs and magnolias complement dwarf conifers.
Take care, Larry
