Linking with Fishtail Cottage Garden Party, Outdoor Wednesday, and Fertilizer Friday.I really spoke too quickly when I said in my previous post that the last of the orienpets were the subject for that day... several plantings are still quite lovely and there is at least one cultivar, Black Beauty, that I had forgotten about and is just now coming into bloom...

We are experiencing a very gray, gloomy day.... I LOVE IT!! No hot sun burning everything up, seventy comfortable degrees... the only negative was that we were "promised" up to three inches of rain, and we ended up getting a tenth of an inch. Unfortunately, this is but a short reprieve from the heat.
I simply have to post more photos of my Scheherazade lilies which are still in super condition...
And then there's Pizzazz, a bit later than Scheherazade, but no slouch either...
I've mentioned in past years that my Leslie Woodriff orienpets come from two different sources... they look different in both form and color as well... would the real Leslie please stand up...
Another hot dry week will probably finish off the lilies and many of the hemerocallis as well. We are seeing a number of August plants blooming earlier than usual as well... here are a few...

| Lord Baltimore hibiscus |
A few clematis such as this viticella are in bloom...
 |
| Altheas |
 |
| The first of the dahlias to bloom |
The gardens are full of phlox, some have been blooming for a time and others are just coming on...

| Rust resistant hollyhocks like Fiesta Time |
It won't be long and the lilies will be past for yet another year...
I'll then need to depend on things like hostas...
... and the hydrangeas...
 |
| Angel's Blush |
... and of course the annuals...
So there you have it... well at least some of it, as there are hundreds of daylilies still in bloom. I must admit that I am ready to cut all the daylily foliage back to the ground and allow fresh to grow... but that had best wait until the blooming is past... here are a few pretties that I caught in my lens in the past couple days...
