The late spring means we're still in what is normally July bloom... lots of OT lilies and daylilies still going strong, for example...
a daylily bloom from a few different perspectives... this particular one is an unnamed seedling...
This is the first blossom to open on another new orienpet lily, this one called 'Big Brother' . While this particular bloom is immense by lily standards, I'm told that with maturity, this cultivar can reach ten feet with thirteen inch diameter blooms...

I love shooting dark colored daylilies with highly contrasting picoteed edges... this is 'Red Peacemaker'...

I have two different forms of what is supposed to be 'Leslie Woodriff'. Here is the second one which blooms quite a bit later than the first... obviously one is a mislabeled plant...
'Heavenly Beginnings' is a ball of sunshine just now as it blooms its heart out...
Several clematis are still blooming such as 'Polish Spirit' shown here growing into a Montgomery Spruce...

I have to admit being a little "gardened out" just now... it has been an intense summer and we put hundreds more hours into the gardens than normal. I did however plant another 39 Orienpet lilies this evening as well as a few perennials. It won't be long and it will be time to start dividing plants so I'm going to occupy the next few weeks with other activities for the most part.
For example, Saturday Sarah and I painted the final 3/4's of our old cheese factory, the painting of which was begun earlier in the week. Its blue is called "Magnanimous Blue" but it had faded so badly, it was anything but! Here are a couple shots of the results of our labor...
We decided to make the piano studio the same color as the rest of the building rather than the natural brown it had been...
I've also gotten back to some glass work, having soldered the outside of my original design butterfly shade... it's just off the form and not yet soldered on the interior as I'm in the process of installing reinforcement wires...
