When the winds reached 20 mph + today as I was trying to complete the new arbor, I decided enough was enough… the temperature was in the 30's but it felt much colder and the strength seemed to drain from my body as the wind blew harder as the day went on. It's going to have to be a bit calmer and warmer than that if the arbor is to be completed before winter. Yesterday was great… about 40 degrees but calm… I used the time to finish wrapping and protecting trees for the coming winter and it took most of the available daylight. At any rate, this new shade has been completed for awhile with the exception of clean-up and patina. With my arbor plans drawn to a halt by noon, I decided to use the afternoon to complete the banded daffodil.
This is one of my favorite shade designs from Tiffany if done in the right colors. I have to admit I was very displeased with my choices when I first removed it from the form. I think it's because I used colors that I normally don't combine… I really prefer blues but as I got used to the shade, I started really liking it. It's good to stretch one's comfort zone from time to time, and that's basically what has happened here. A good lesson for me and my glasswork as well as for life in general I'd say…
