I must admit that this long winter has become tiresome for me, with its weeks on end of cold… 90% of the days reaching temps below zero. One must dwell on other thoughts, folks, things … I posted on FB that it becomes incumbent for me to discipline myself to look at the long winter from a different point of view… if you are a Facebook friend of mine you may have run across my comment…
" One may as well seek out the beauty in all things… if one looks deep enough, it's almost always there, hidden somewhere below what may be layers of tarnish and pain… I am not so naive as to believe that is always the case, but in a simple life such as mine, seldom am I touched by real and unsalvageable ugliness. If only we as Paul could be satisfied in whatever state we find ourselves… finding beauty in the lives of those we come in contact with, and appreciating the conditions we face… (even in one of the coldest winters in recent years…. this too shall pass!) How much more will we appreciate the spring when we remember the trials of winter… in our fraility, how long will it be before we once again say in the heat and humidity of July… "I'll never complain about winter again!"We can be so imperfect at times and yet we have the power to love one another as we were taught by example… that is what will bring us through the cold winters of our lives… we have the power to be warmth and sunshine for others even when they have forgotten what that can be…"
