Here it is... a pink double. Also shot a pic of Pinus mugo 'Wintersonne'... a bright spot in the brown world of early April. Note all the leaves scattered about... I hear all sorts of folks talking about cleaning up the garden but I think it's a bit early... call it experience... for example, we are forecast for 21 degrees F this next Monday night. Why risk it? I did however, get all the hellebores cut back and fed... gave the tree peonies a shot of osmocote as well... too early to comment on how they are doing.
I also took some pictures of the many brown conifers and will use them for reference in the future. In my tour about the gardens today I see my larger Picea orientalis 'Skylands' may not come back, but I have a second that should throw plenty of new growth despite being partially burned. I've come to terms with the conifer's that have desiccation issues and am looking forward to the changes I can make if several have to be removed. If I were to be totally honest with myself, I'd admit many of the trees here are planted too close anyway!
On an exciting note, the New Millennium delphiniums are looking fantastic and there will be lots of great clumps... guess the staking will begin in earnest before long... it really is worth it to me as they are amazing in early June.... Larry
