A place of refuge...
Why do we garden... a haven for my wife and me but we want others to enjoy it as well... that's really important to us...
We host open gardens when the gardens are in their peak moments... we want interested people to have an opportunity to see them when they are at their best ...
While we welcome bus tours, the smaller visits are equally important to us... come into our gardens and find a spot where you would like to sit and relax... partake of our sanctuary...
If you want to visit, give us a call or e-mail... you can even respond in the comment section of this blog... we really don't do this for just ourselves... we love to share what's here... it only seems right...
Try to come in the morning or later afternoon when the light is so much more beautiful and the air is cooler...
Feel free to ask any questions that may enter your mind... I do have 43 years of gardening experience here at Oak Lawn and barring any senior moments, may be able to share something about gardening that you weren't previously aware of...
We so enjoy meeting new folks who love to garden or even those who simply enjoy visiting gardens... plan on sitting a spell... use the gazebo if you wish...
Want to have your wedding pictures here? That's fine... many have...
Graduation pictures, family pictures... whatever... it's all fine!
We do feel badly that we had to stop doing prom pictures for the really big groups... the gardens just can't handle 200-300 people who tend to group in a specific area all at the same time... over the years the grassy areas have decreased and the garden beds have increased and we just don't have the space for that sort of thing... we hope people understand that decision...
Bottom line, we try to purvey a servant attitude with our lives... whether relating to the gardens, sharing our music, whatever...
We have been given so much... sharing our gardens is one way we can give back...
So come if you can... bring a friend who might enjoy... or several...
And if you can't come personally, feel free to visit this blog... I have every intention of continuing posting here and on Facebook for the immediate future and beyond if I am able... so many people seem to appreciate a little extra sunshine in their lives and I am blessed to possess more than I need personally...
Until next time... hoping you have a sanctuary of your own where you can experience serenity and joy... and feel close to God's marvelous creation...
Friends, Larry
