A large planting of hellebore 'Winter Dreams Picotee' |
My very first hellebore after many years is now expansive in size |
Daffodil season has begun... |
Stellata magnolias are finally coming into bloom, weeks later than normal... |
It's been a challenge lately here at Oak lawn.... keeping the greenhouse and the many annuals it houses warm and growing, trying to accomplish some of the spring work, and being patient in this very late spring. I managed to slip a disk in my back two more times for a total of three times in the past month and haven't been able to be on my feet more than a few minutes at a time. As a result, very little outside work has been accomplished and I am concerned as I do have a bus tour arriving on the 21st. I am pretty convinced there will be some bloom by then... depending on the weather, tulips and daffodils may still be in bloom and I'm hoping that flowering crabs and magnolias will have begun their bloom seasons. I trust my visitors will understand my situation.
I have been working long days in the glass studio, getting my spring commitments completed. Luckily I am able to work when seated so good progress is being made on my triptych window panel design.
We will have temps in the 60's after tomorrow's 80 degrees and storms... things are looking up !
